# A weird scheduling issue in the FIFA Club World Cup

So tonight an Egyptian club, Al Ahly, takes on Inter Miami at Hard Rock Stadium in a Group Stage opener. Al Ahly is listed first, meaning that they’re the “home” team for this match. Interestingly, the match is being played at a neutral venue about 25 miles from Inter Miami’s home stadium. So effectively Inter Miami is playing a match in Miami, but they’re not the home team.

I just thought that was weird and kind of funny.

The Buccaneers and Rams both played Super Bowls in their home stadiums (in back to back years after it having never happened before!).

The Rams were the “visiting” team in theirs, I believe.

The 49ers played a SB at Stanford, but were designated the home team.

I assume thats on purpose. Playing in your home home stadium is a massive advantage for club sides. Even more than for than national sides (where there is nothing that special about the official national stadium, any stadium in the home country will have an advantage)
