Most places prohibit battle axes, too, and the axes are even harder to conceal than handguns. I generally use battle axes when I play dwarven characters in D&D. One of my first DMs would give dwarves a racial bonus (+1 to hit) to dwarves wielding any axe or hammer. Also, I just felt that dwarves and axes go together well.
