Replace Hamilton?
How about Maria Reynolds?

I was gonna specifically say to get rid of Jackson, and Grant was my #2 choice. Great minds think alike!
Grant’s awfulness as president is mostly fiction, as I understand it. If his ideas about Reconstruction had be carried through, the South and the US in general would be much better for it, in my view.
Well, personally, I’d nominate a woman for our times, and all seasons…an immigrant, a member of a religious minority, an artist, a political and societal activist who was a firm champion of her personal Agency!
I speak, of course, about that lighthouse beacon for the human condition…Ayn Rand!
(Plus, we can give the bill a neat Art Deco theme for the redesign.)
I’m guessing Michelle Obama.
Yeah, that has to be a burr in his side.
Jackson deserves the boot far more than Hamilton. I’m in favor of putting women on the $10 and $20. Abe and George should be on their respective bills for life. I think FDR deserves more than the dime, give him the $50.
Hedy Lamarr, inventor of wifi.
I hope it isn’t Sojourner Truth - she and Harriett Tubman are the two people you go to when you need real tokenism, check off the black box AND the woman box and call it good. (Sacajawea works for the same purpose, but you have to click the general other box, not the black box).
Eleanor Roosevelt would be a good choice.
So no non-white women can be chosen?
But what’s up with this:
Lord forbid we just make a clean switch.
It’s to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the 19th amendment (women’s right to vote) so of course they’re picking a female for the purpose of picking a female.
Seems to me it should be one of the major figures from the suffrage movement, like Liz Stanton or this lady. True, the majority of people won’t recognize them on sight but maybe that’s a good opportunity to get people interested in learning about it for themselves. It would at least be a great way to get children to learn more.
Jackie Kennedy, our hottest First Lady, seems an excellent choice.
I like this part of the idea…
Our bills have two sides.
He did try to do the right thing as to Reconstruction and Indian policy, but largely failed, and did nothing to check the rampant corruption in his Administration (although he was personally honest). Grant in the White House was the quintessential example of the Peter Principle at work.
If it were up to me, I’d leave Hamilton on the $10, replace Andrew Jackson with Sojourner Truth on the $20 and also replace Grant on the $50 with either Harry Truman or Theodore Roosevelt. But that’s just me.
That’s Hedley!
Can we remember that women are not a minority but are 51% of the population so it’s about damn time there was a woman on the bill instead of all white men. It’s unfortunate we can’t just make a clean switch, though.
Now we just need to get rid of Jackson.
My understanding is that Grant’s rep for uncontrolled corruption was overblown and strongly tied to the Lost Cause view of the Confederates, and that his reputation as President has been at least somewhat rehabilitated in the last few decades.
I’d like to see Sally Ride on the bill.
Oprah Winfrey.
