Aww. We’re similiar. Somewhat… So has _anyone_ been able to think of an author for “X”? Can’t think of a single one… ---

Well, if you can find even one “X” author, I suppose it’s your favourite one. (It’s not cheating; it’s sophistry.) I mean, the OP didn’t require you to have read them. So there’s the autobiography of Malcolm X, and the various historical writings of Xenophon… (going quietly before I am asked to leave) ---

Amazing book. I would have included it myself but…actually I was thinking favorite novel. Maybe I should have mentioned that. Oh well. And I don’t have any science fiction either. Unless you count the giant mutant beetle in Kafka. ---

It took me an absurd amount of time to come up with this list, and it is quite incomplete. Expect updates if I think of some more. If I mention a specific book in a series, that doesn’t mean I haven’t read or don’t like the rest of the series, it’s just I like that one best. If I mention a series as a whole, I like all the books in it equally. Austen, Jane: Pride and Prejudice B Cooper, Susan: Dark is Rising Sequence Dante, The Inferno E Ferris, Timothy: Coming of Age in the Milky Way {Garcia Marquez, Gabriel: Love in the Time of Cholera {Gaardner, Jostein: Sophie’s World Heller, Joseph: Catch-22 I J Kerouac, Jack: The Dharma Bums Lewis, C.S.: The Chronicles of Narnia Mahfouz, Naguib: Palace of Desire (Book 2 in the Cairo Trilogy) N Orwell, George: 1984 P Q Rowling, J.K.: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone Shilts, Randy: And the Band Played On Twain, Mark: The Innocents Abroad U Vonnegut, Kurt: Sirens of Titan Williams, Tad: the Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn series X Yoshimoto, Banana: Kitchen Z [Previous page](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/a-z-favorite-author-and-book/41130.md?page=1)
