aaAHHH, What kind of spider is this!?

Karma

Actually I have had a black widow spider run towards me as I was trying to eliminate it from the earth as it was in the middle of the ceiling of my living room. For the record I screamed a high C note like a little girl and ran the other way. Obviously I was more scared of her than her of me.

But really touch the web during the daytime when the spider is hiding in a dark place. The best thing to do is get a look at the belly, but when the belly ain’t there cause the spider ain’t there, touch the web.

I always put on gloves and long sleeve shirt when moving wood that has been sitting around awhile. That is one of blackwidow spider favorite places to live.

That is reasonable, but gloving to move my lawn chair is not.

Darwin loves volunteers!

(LOL)

Oh, I see. So we’ve gone from “Sticking hand or foot into a dark cavity is stupid” to “undertaking perfectly normal, everyday operations in a suburban setting without first donning protective equipment is stupid”.

FFS dude, people get bitten by widows by simply walking past their webs. Your idea that everybody, or even a significant minority, who gets bitten did anything at all wrong is utter, ignorant nonsense with no basis at all in fact.

And the billions of people who get parasite infections each year.
And the people who get attacked by animals, from geese to bears, because they happen to inadvertently get to close to their young or nesting site.
And the people who have their property and livestock destroyed by everything from termites to feral cats to tigers to seals.
And the people who get attacked by bulls or goats because it’s mating season and the animals are aggressive.
And the people who disturb pocrupines, bears, cassowaries etc ever without being aware the animal was their and get attacked.
And the people who put their shoes on and get stung by scorpions.
And the people who go swimming and get stung by jellyfish.
And the people who get bitten by savage dogs.
And the people who get bitten by rabid animals.
And the people…

Look, Grateful-UnDead, your statement that if people leave animals alone the animals pose no threat is the biggest load of self-evidently, easily provable nonsense I have heard on these boards. And I’ve heard some utter shite.

That statement is of such colossal ignorance it could only possibly have come from somebody who has lived in a city their entire life and has absolutely no experience of animals or even knowledge gained from reading or watching TV.

So fricken? what? Are you seriously suggesting that the shark was taking revenge?

OK, so other than all that, what else have they done?

Plumbing?

I was wondering how long it would take…!

I dunno, spiders are totally on the menu (open at your own risk)

I found black widows living in my garage a few years ago. They soon spread into my laundry room and from there into my kitchen. I kill them as soon as I see them but they just keep coming back. I haven’t noticed any reduction in other insects. I still see the same amount of earwigs, moths and other pests inside my home. It’s not really worth the risk of keeping them around, imho.
