Rather than the wedding march from Wagner’s “Lohengrin”, you could use the beginning of the overture to act I. It’s quiet and celestial/ethereal. And lovely. Or “Zip-a-dee-doo-dah” from “Song of the South”. ---

My wife walked in to Ava Maria. It’s a beautiful piece of music. We had a hard decision on the recessional, we almost went with the opening Futurama theme 😃 It’s actually pretty good I reckon. But we wound up going a with Hawaiian Iz - Over the Rainbow. Oh and likc cunctator this is also the first time I’ve heard of the groom having music. I was already there waiting up with the celebrant. ---

Ava Maria is a beautiful piece of music, but in the UK (don’t know if it’s the same in the States) you can’t use any pieces with religious connotations in a civil service. I’m still vacillating between the two pieces, btw. Mum and I are going practice walking to them, see if that helps me decide. ---

[/QUOTE] You’re kidding! :eek: Who enforces that? and how do they enforce that? We were married in a civil ceremony, in the gardens of a local Heritage-listed house. It was the first governer’s residence I think. But I can’t imagine some government department stepping in and dictating what music we can and can’t use. ---

I’m not sure how they’d enforce it. You have to let the registrar know your music choices in advance so they can vet them, but I’m not sure what she’d do if I slipped in a quick Ave Maria. Though it does give me an amusing vision of her doing that slow-motion dive-and-“NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!” thing. My mum loves a good hymn, and has been threatening to sing some anyway! ---

When **Zeldar** and I married we used Pat Metheney’s _Are You Going With Me?_ as the recessional. We really didn’t leave the scene of the “crime,” but friends gathered around us at that point. We were married at the end of a fishing pier (covere) over a frozen lake on New Year’s Day. The title of that son is engraved inside my wedding band. **Siege**! My best wishes to you! Good stuff! **akira** , _Scotland the Brave_ would make me cray at my own wedding! But it surely is a winner! _Minstrel Boy_ for the recessional, perhaps? ---

Well, I was going to suggest Thaxted/“I Vow to Thee, My Country”…but seeing as you’re in England, I understand that that might be like playing some Lee Greenwood at a U.S. wedding (not that there’d be anything wrong with that, of course, if that’s your thing. Just…unexpected, is all. 😉 ).
