# Aarrggh. Hurricane headed our way

We just got back into Houston, only to find out that we have a storm brewing up that is headed right for us. It stands a chance of spinning up to hurricane strength, but even if it only hits tropical storm levels, we’re gonna get a shitload of rain over the weekend,

Sorry to hear it, that sucks. Still, at least you don’t have to worry about ongoing increases in the likelihood of extreme weather events in general and consequent natural disasters due to long-term policies whose scientifically substantiated negative impacts you ideologically refuse to recognize.

Much as I disagree with **Clothahump** on pretty much everything, I can certainly get behind “extreme weather is, if not actively dangerous, at least potentially problematic and generally really fucking annoying”.
So here’s hoping you and yours get through this safely and without serious property damage. Let us know how it goes.

Agreeing with **Gyrate** , here. Stay safe, and I hope the flooding doesn’t get too bad. IIRC, Houston is pretty flat.
On the bright side, that moisture should swing up north and to the east, and bring us some much needed rain.

I live in an area that’s had its share of hurricanes. Keep a few gallons of water in reserve in case your power gets knocked out, stock up on flashlights and batteries, and chainsaw any trees and limbs that look on the verge of death so they won’t fly through your window later. Good luck!

I’m quite sure you thought you were going to get off a snarky remark that you could giggle about while you scratch your ass and sniff your fingers.
The sad truth is that if our windows get taken out, we’ll go out of business. We’re barely breaking even right now and the cost of replacing windows and the mats that will be ruined by the water that comes in will probably cost us several thousand dollars that insurance won’t cover. And we can’t afford it.
