Abandoned 747 in Bangkok Suburb

There’s an F-111 parked outside an Army-Navy surplus store off I-30 in TX. And in a parking lot just off US 80 E of Dallas, there’s a MIG-15 or 17. I never could determine which. If anyone’s more familiar with early MIGs than I am, this might be a clue: the rudder was split into an upper portion and a lower portion. I suspect that was so it would clear the elevators.

Thanks for pointing that out. Didn’t know. That’s the old New World shopping mall. Back in the 1980s, it was a major attraction. But like it says in the link, they built it higher than they’d been given permission for and had to knock some floors off the top. Mistakes were made, people got killed in the process, and it was finally abandoned. Back when they still had a few more floors, there was a decent food court on the top one with a nice view of the river not too far away.

Missed the edit window. The link mentions it’s been abandoned for about 20 years. Maybe not quite. I know it was still operating in 1994 and '95. I’d say it closed about 1996 or even 1997 as memory serves.

An update on that mall full of fish. Excerpt: “Workers from the Fisheries Department and Phra Nakhon district are moving about 3,000 fish out of Bangkok’s condemned New World shopping centre where they have swum around for more than 10 years.”

Lots of eerie pics too. I was near there yesterday. Should have checked it out.
