I’m totally posting from the Abit board computer!

Beeeyah!

I still gotta get some drivers and add some more ram - but it’s so working.

I suggest you start a new thread for something like this. You’re more likely have people answer your question.

you found an unused metallic post shorting your board. even if all the mounting holes line up there is a similar issue.

motherboard would have one mounting screw hole surround with closely (comes
within the diameter of a screw head) contacts for the board ground; this should have a metal screw and a metal post or dimple below it.

many other mounting holes that have nonground traces very close to it. if you mount these locations on a metal post or dimple you would short out the board. these holes need to be supported by nonmetalic posts and/or have nonmetalic washers used on both sides of the board.

> This may sound silly but the first PC I ever built used an Abit mobo (BP6? Whatever their dual celeron board was) and when I assembled it I could not get the thing to power on.

The dual-Celeron boards were indeed the BP6; I think I’ve still got two of those somewhere. And two Abit VP6 boards.
