FWIW, a few years ago, I started a pit thread titled [Delay: “Judges shouldn’t use the Internet–that’s outrageous!”](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=312820). In my first post, I linked to the article, and posted the quote that the thread title was paraphrasing. Because I used quote marks in the thread title, **TVeblen** [put on her mod hat and told me not to do that again](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=6076770&postcount=92). I [respectfully disagreed](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=6076862&postcount=96) with her assessment of my OP’s title, but agreed I wouldn’t use quote marks in thread titles when I was paraphrasing again. **Tveblen** noted later that, given previous troubles with **december’s** use of misleading thread titles, they wanted to make sure it didn’t happen even inadvertantly. I do suspect that **euthanasiast** would’ve gotten a better response if he’d argued civilly, rather than using “go fuck yourself.” I think this suspension is bogus, and I think that the rule has not been consistently enforced (or adequately explained) over the messageboar’s life, and I think that they ought to make a specific note of both the “misleading thread title” rule and the “don’t cuss out a mod” rule if they want them to be followed. But there is precedent for **Lynn’s** action. Daniel ---
