I’d be interested in seeing this original thread and seeing how it compares. I did some searching and couldn’t find anything in GD where someone repeatedly called someone else a liar or said they were lying after the rule change that did not get a mod spank (I actually found one where I did, though no warning was issued), so if someone repeatedly violated the rule they should have been smacked (though the caveat is the mods need to be told of rule violations unless they are participating in the thread).
Who called him a liar several times? I vaguely remember that thread though I didn’t remember it being put in the Pit, but I don’t see where he’s being called a liar there.
You know, I wasn’t going to do this, kinda shied away from it.
The thread that Measure got on to was sort of a “response” thread. The thread itself, the source of the contamination, was in GD and involved Israel. Surprise, surprise. And yes, it was Finn Again. Who is, on most subjects, comparatively reasonable and sane. Except for that one subject, where he isn’t.
Well, in the first instance, I was wary of making it personal, since I was just interested in a clear and concise ruling, or as close as is practical, given the inherent difficulty. In the second, I wasn’t all that interested in poring over archives. You’re welcome to, if you like.
The only reason I mentioned it at all was it seemed to me that the policy changed, then changed back, then morphed into something else entirely.
That’s kind of why I wanted to see the thread that gave you that impression. You might have a really good case here if you could remember the thread and post a link or remember enough to have someone else do a search. I’m not wanting to bust anyone’s chops here…just curious how it played out.
I think it’s part of why i pursued a career in history: i take a sort of perverse pleasure in tracking down information like this. I think i would have loved to be a detective, too.
