Pay Pal have consistently refused to accept my credit card, refused to tell me why and, as a consequence, forced me out of E Bay. Long live Amazon which take both my credit and debit cards.
The ways of PayPal are sometimes mysterious and often infuriating.
FYI, I’ve created an account and paid. If you want to test something, I’ll try to get a custom title or something.
Um, I just plain screwed up. I was on vacation (without email access) when the notification went out. I did re-up, but after I was expired. I doubt that it’s gone thru yet, but I do have a receipt number. If it’s possible with all that to get my Charter Member back, I’d appreciate it, and if not, I understand. :o
You shoul dbe good now, Earl.
Many thanks!
Well this doth blow. No way to use paypal without creating an account and I have now lost my charter member status.
No, you do NOT have to have a PayPal account.
Ike, what exactly happened when you tried to pay with a credit or debit card?
We can get your Charter status back but yill have to resubscribe at the regular price, I can’t do anything about that.
You can write me off the board if you want to take this private. We’ll get this straightened out.
Yes, me too. My membership isn’t due until June 20th, but I don’t want to use PayPal either, and when I enter Canada as my country (using Safari), I get the same run around - no way to use my credit card without creating a PayPal account. As others have said, I really, REALLY don’t want a PayPal account - there has to be some way for me to pay for this without creating one.
Sorry you’ve been having troubles – we still can’t figure out why this is happening. Don’t think it’s related to our server problems.
It’s only happening to non U.S.-based accounts. I don’t know what PayPal has against any of you.
Did you try another browser? Some people found it worked in … well, another flavor of browser. Let’s start with that.
I hope to have a little time this week to perhaps try to look deeper into this … why it works for some non-U.S. customers and not others makes no sense to me. The ways of PayPal are many and strange.
Sorry you had a problem.
Well, I tried IE too, and that gave me the same result, so I caved and paid with PayPal. Now I have to go through all the hassle of trying to get my credit card number out of their clutches again…
Well … I could have swore I advised you to try Chrome … that worked for some people (but, I have to admit, not for others).
I’m pretty sure IE didn’t work for people … and it didn’t work for you.
::: sigh ::: Sorry this is being so difficult for our folks outside the United States. I still haven’t been able to find out why this is happening. I am also trying to find a workaround.
I don’t have Chrome or Firefox, so I used what I have.
