# About the mailing list and getting parts of columns....

Why are there only parts of the columns in the mailing list? It seems kind of pointless to get an email getting 1/2 of what you expect, and getting the same thing with just a visit [here.](http://www.straightdope.com/)

Two reasons that I can see :

1 - If we sent the whole thing out, you wouldn’t have anyreason to visit the site.

2 - You get the links before they are put onto the main page, so you do get them before they become public.
