5:04 p.m., October 17, 1989. Oakland, CA. Third floor apartment. Longest twenty seconds of my life.
One time as I got my car, and was about to turn on the ignition, I felt my heart start to do a drum solo for no apparent reason. And I don’t mean it was just going fast. Its rhythm went approximately like this:
thumpity-thump-BAM-ba-BAM-thumpity-WHACK-babump-BAM.
Then it stopped.
For a very long three seconds.
Then it started again.
That was pretty scary.
Laugh hard; it’s a long way to the bank.
1). sky - ground - sky - ground - sky - ground - sky - ground - sky - ground - sky - ground - sky - ground… ground. ground. broken arm… tree houses just weren’t the same after that.
2.) There was this time that a bunch of my friends and I went out on a train tressle over a lake near where I live in the middle of the night. We were all planning on jumping the 60+ feet into the water, and then swimming to shore. I wasn’t sure if I could do it or not. Funny what you’ll do when a train is barreling down on you.

Finding out that someone in a condor had been killed on the set of Spiderman, before I got Mr. Rilch’s message reassuring me that it wasn’t him. He was doing condor on that show, but the accident happened on a set that was being pre-rigged; he wasn’t even there.
Stopping at the local stop’n’rob on my way home and having something illegal fall out of my purse. And being aware that there was a cop in the store.
Thinking a mugger was behind me as I entered my apartment building, then realizing what I’d heard was a plastic bag blowing about.
Having Mr. Rilch’s boss tell us he thought he had the fifth of five Taco Bell Phantom Menace game pieces necessary to get the million dollars, and that if he did, he would split the winnings with Mr. Rilch, since they’d been combining their pieces. An hour later, he called back to tell us it wasn’t Anakin’s mom; it was Padme (Amadala incognito).
