ACC poaching of the Big East: Dirty pool in the NCAA?

Throw in Air Force and we can classify Notre Dame as an illegal combatant. You’re with the terrorists or against them. :stuck_out_tongue: Kiss my golden domes, Rudy!

Harumph!.. Cough!.. Adding Florida would do both. Not to mention the other sports.

Let me just say as a Florida Grad and a longtime season ticketholder who lives in North Carolina, 500 miles away from our home games, the chance of Florida leaving the SEC to play Wake Forrest, NC St., Duke, Va Tech etc., rather than Tennessee, Georgia, Bammer, LSU, Auburn… It ain’t gonna happen folks. ACC, thanks for asking. I’m flattered, but zip, zero, no chance.

Florida has about the 2-4th largest athletic department income in college sports. (About $60 million) Florida Field was just expanded so it exceeds 90,000. Tickets haven’t been unavailable for 15-20 years… very few seats to any of the basketball games are available as we’ve averaged 25 wins per year the last 4 seasons. We’re one of only 2 schools (along with UCLA) to finish in the Top 10 of the Sears Cup (College All Sports Standings)

Does anyone actually think we’d jeopordize all of that for a move to The ACC? What possible reason is there? We fit in The ACC better academically? I agree. So what? We don’t play Mississippi State in math quizes. There’s a misconception out there that because FSU plays Duke in a sport FSU somehow becomes a better academic institution. It does not. Play them 1000 games… you’re still FSU.

One other thing about this report that The ACC will try to get the NCAA to change the rule so an 11 team conference can have a playoff game. Don’t be so sure that’s going to pass. Think the Big East will vote to help the ACC after what they just did? I think not. I’m also told, The SEC, Big 12 and Mountain West think The ACC should play by the same rules.

Man, academic standards at Florida must be really low. You only have 2 schools, yet you call it a “top 10”. :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:
