Accidental Racist by Brad Paisley & LL Cool J

Would you settle for Stephen Colbert and Alan Cumming?

Okay, that’s full of win.

Yes, it is. My favorite was “If you don’t judge my tight pants/I won’t judge the way you dance.” Putting aside the stupid elements of the lyrics of the original song, I have to say- having heard part of it, the arrangement is just horrible. The rap makes no sense in this song: there’s no beat and the rapping doesn’t fit that instrumentation, so it sounds like LL Cool J is just shouting at random and trying to fit his words between the pauses in Paisley’s singing. And these guys don’t sound good when they’re trying to talk over each other. It’s really a failure on every level.

(bolding mine)

A lot of people, particularly in Paisley’s audience, think that’s what rap is. The rap sounds like it was written by somebody who doesn’t listen to hip-hop. Between that and the cliched lyrics (sagging pants, du-rag, and gold/iron chains), I wonder if LL Cool J did anything but show up one morning and spend twenty minutes recording his vocal track.

I think twenty minutes is being overly generous.
