That’s when I called home and told them what happened and that I’d need a ride back to my car. And oh yeah, dad, as long as you’re coming by the hospital anyway, can I borrow a pint of blood? So I guess the only unlucky thing was really the stupidity of cutting the wrong way with a knife, something common sense should’ve told me not to do in the first place. ---

I used to work as an electrician before getting my current (and infinitely safer) desk job. If the volts were 277 or less, we almost always worked with the power on. I got so used to getting bit by 120V, that if I felt kinda sleepy, I would tough the live wire on purpose to wake myself up a little. Wouldn’t do that with anything higher than 120V though, and I don’t recommend it to all you kiddies out there reading at home. Remember kids, when I did that sort of thing I was a professional idiot. ---

**Kricket** - here’s the link to the [mishap at my sister’s house](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=28606), posted back when I was known as BratMan007. And **Mauvaise** , yeah my grandpa’s great. He’s got about 8 grandkids (can’t keep up with all my cousins, I rarely see them). My sister was the first and I was the second. We are my grandfather’s favorites for being the first grandchild and then the first grandson. We’re also 2 of the 4 who haven’t been to prison (yes, I’ve been arrested numerous times, but no convictions) and we’re the only two to have gone to college (still hope for Haley though, she’s only 9). Plus as an ex-Marine who fought in Korea, he’s very proud that I had enlisted in the military. We were also 2 of only 3 grandchildren to show up at my Uncle Marty’s (his only son) funeral. (My mom’s sisters, with the exception of my aunt Linda, wanted little to do with Marty when they found he was gay, and even less to do with him when he found out he had AIDS. I guess that rubbed off on their kids. Linda was there, but Haley was only a toddler at the time, so actually my sister and I were the only 2 grandkids to show up of our own accord.) ---

Regardless of what may be physically wrong with me, poor game playing is never a fault of mine or a sore writst, thumb, whatever. The problem of playing poorly cannot be traced back to me at all. It’s always the controller isn’t reponding right, there’s a button stuck, the game is slow, the graphics are poor, etc. Sometimes it’s just a stupid game and beneath me playing it anymore. But it’s _never_ my fault in any way. 😉 ---

What a terrible thing to happen! I’ve had friends with hand-area accidents and they are a trial because the area is so vulnerable to stray bumps even walking along. As to the funny looks, perhaps a loose longsleeved sweater is in order. Hope you have a quick recovery. ---

I got the car back later that night. And BTW, in this part of town, the car would’ve been perfectly safe if I’d left it there overnight. Actually, it would’ve been safe till the city finally towed it. ---
