I don’t think he’s malevolent. I think of him more like a Yahoo user, or some old person on Facebook who just takes every image macro as gospel. Those used to really frustrate me, but then we got the real assholes rather than the clueless ones. ---

That’s funny, because that’s exactly what my own internal dialog was when I first started to notice him, which was well before I ever saw anybody else gripe about him. I even considered being the first to gripe a few times, but then I realized he mostly means well, but is pretty well blind about some things and pretty well brainwashed about some others. And that reminds me of my father enough that I guess i already knew how to just blow it off. Meanwhile, he often provides the opening to fight ignorance in a relatively pleasant and nonconfrontational way, so I say he does his bit to help with the general mission around here, one way or the other. ---
