# Acid reflux woes

A endoscopy is worthwhile. My gastroenterologist found scarring from the years I only used Tums and Maalox.

Pretty rare for me now, but once upon a time, it would wake me up gasping for breath at night. The first time it ever woke me up, all I knew was that I couldn’t breathe, and I thought I was having a heart attack–so I bolted out of the apartment I was living in. That way, if I died, someone would find my body soon, and I wouldn’t be lying in the apartment decomposing into protein soup.

Anyway, I found it mostly happened when I ate close to bedtime, so I just started eating earlier.
