# Ack!!! My keyboard is acting weird!

On my PC at home (AMD 64, 1 GB RAM, Windows XP), at first the c,v,b and n keys weren’t working at all…I rebooted and now when I type “c” it shows up as “3c” and “v” is “4v” and so on…WTF? Virus? Some strange setting I mistakenly activated? Time for a new keyboard? Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any insight…

My first instinct is that some liquid was spilt on it. If you have another keyboard available, try plugging that in and seeing if that works properly. If so, it’s probably a physical keyboard problem (such as spilt liquid) rather than a computer issue.
If it is spilt liquid, the keyboard _might_ start working again if you give it time to dry out – if not, it’s probably time for a new keyboard.
