Man, I’ve been reading a lot of threads lately, and there are some fucking bizarre acronyms out there and it’s really a pain in the ass to read through. Some of them I know and some I can figure out, but what the fuck is IANAC? The first thing that came to mind was Nixon’s “I Am Not A Crook”, but it didn’t make sense in the context. Then there’s a billion others out there equally as perplexing… Through divine inspiration I prophecy that the SDMB (holy shit now I"m doing it!#!) posts in 5 years willl look something like: IANND NDNEA NENC IIRC JFKA IMHO BYS DNBWAYSITA BACE ---

IANAx = I am not an “x” IANAC is usually “I am not a Christian”. It all depends on context, of course. If you’re reading a thread about legal matters, you’ll see comments prefaced with “IANAL”. Basically just a disclaimer letting the readers know that the following comments are not coming from an expert. Too many acronyms can be irritating, but I find a few to be rather handy. YMMV. 😉 ---

If I recall correctly, John Fitzgerald Kennedy’s acronym, in my humble opinion, began yonder scenario. Do not begrudge wonderful acronyms you see in this answer.
