Actors Forever Associated With 1 Role

caircair beat me to it. If I met Sir Anthony Hopkins on the street I would instantly think he’s preparing to eat my liver (with a nice chianti & fava beans).

Alicia Silverstone = Cher from Clueless
Julie Andrews = (tie) Sound of Music and Mary Poppins roles.
Cuba Gooding, Jr. = Rod Tidwell (“Show me the money” character from Jerry Maguire).

With the exception of Jonathan Frakes, who I never thought fit the Trek profile: he was too much of a bull elephant. And anyone who played a Klingon, Ferengi, or any other character that required a lot of prosthetics.

Speaking of which, Armin Shimerman was in one scene in Blind Date. It’s the big restaurant scene: Kim Basinger says, “Can you really speak French or are you just bullshitting?” He says, “I trained in Paris.” One line, but he perfectly conveyed the Snotty Francais Wait-ah attitude.

Jerry Mathers as The Beaver.
He was just on Leno AGAIN doing the same dumb gee-whiz lines. That is so sad, but fame is never fair, I guess.

Actually, I can’t help but see J.F. as anything but J.F. playing … himself. Some kind of determined, alpha-male nice-guy type.

You know. The next door neighbour with the wife and kid who you can always rely on borrowing tools from.

Sylvester Stallone: A mumbling tough guy. the real shame of it is, he did some pretty decent roles early on (And even later, like in Cop Land).

I’d have to disagree. Ithink mel has done a fine job of divoricing himself from that role (And The Patriot rocked!)

How about George Clooney? I think he also suffers from the same problem as John Frakes…

Good to see in films, but it always seems to be the role fitting George rather than George fitting the role…

Look! It’s George as a hunky Bruce Wayne… if Bruce Wayne was George…

Look! It’s George as a hunky Swordfish Boat Captain… if he knew how to captain a Swordboat…

Look! It’s George as a hunky Gulf War soldier… and as a hunky nuclear weapons specialist soldier…

…because he looks good in a uniform.

Look! It’s George as a hunky doctor… wait… didn’t we start here?

Larry Hagman - JR Ewing
Same as the others from that show:
Patrick Duffy
Victoria Principal

Jami Gertz - Boots from “The Facts of Life”
Dianne Wietz (sp?) - Footloose

And in a similar vein, Bob Denver will always be ** Gilligan ** to my younger brothers and **Maynard G. Krebs ** to me and my late father.

Oh, and Dwayne Hickman will always be Dobie Gillis

Trivia fans: Shiela James Kuehl (Zelda Gilroy in the Dobie series) went on to Harvard law school and was one of the first women (and the only openly lesbian one) elected to the California State Assembly in 1992.
