Actors who a very good at imitating accents.

Friends and I recently did an Ian Holm film-fest (little snippets of films he’s been in, sometimes for only 10 minutes or so). In addition to English, hobbit, and android, he’s also played Italian, American, Welsh, and French/Corsican characters, and even Hercule Poirot once, frequently with darling accents.

Anthony LaPaglia fakes a New York accent well not because it’s close to how he grew up talking (in Adelaide, Australia) but because he decided twenty or so years ago that if he wanted to do American movies and TV shows he had to learn to do a single American accent consistently well. He chose to do a New York accent. He learned the accent so well that it’s how he talks in real life too.
