Pithy! I read your post and thought about it, and found that to me, it’s absolutely positively true. There’s got to be at least a dozen actors from the series that apply to this dynamic. ( probably a good deal more if I were to research the cast list and cross reference to their other work ) ---

I know what you mean, but even stranger to me is actors talking in their native accents after seeing them playing Americans in multiple series and movies. For instance, watching an actor like Damien Lewis in _Wolf Hall_ after following him for years in _Life_, _Homeland_ and _Billions_. Or just recently I saw Matthew Rhys speaking in his regular accent in an interview after seeing him in _The Americans_, _Perry Mason_ and _The Beast in Me_. Those two really nail the accents, as does Ruth Wilson in _The Affair_ but I first saw her in _Luther_, so that was less of a surprise. ---
