And he did, in From Dusk to Dawn.
I’m not so sure his character from *Oh Brother Where Art Thou * was entirely mentally balanced either although not quite batshit crazy.

Does Oprah count?
David Hyde Pierce once said he’d been told to play a serial killer in order to break out of his Frasier typecasting. He could pull it off, too.
Patrick Stewart could make a very chilling crazy guy. He’s getting great reviews for his stage turn in the lead of Macbeth right now.
He wasn’t crazy – Harvey clearly existed (other people saw him and he clearly did things that still others noticed).
Stewart played Ahab in a TV movie adaptation of Moby-Dick. I would love to see it.
Yeah, that was one of the great stage performances I’ve seen. Patrick Stewart is such a commanding presence that when you see cracks in it, it’s really amazing.
I’ve only seen a few minutes of his Moby Dick: I paid for a copy, but Blockbuster sold me an empty box. I managed to get his autograph anyway, so it wasn’t the worst gift I’ve ever given, but it was close.
