Although really, they phoned it in on the name. Killgrave? I think Jessica Jones asked if Murder McDeath was already taken.
Fair enough, and the gods know there are incalculable numbers of women in the acting field who didn’t get taken seriously until the wrinkles showed up.
And there’s nothing much pretty about Brad in Kalifornia, he plays a straight up psycho killer. Does it really well too. *shudder*
For a comic book villain created in 1964 it’s practically the epitome of subtlety. As least they only had him dress in purple. In the comic books he has purple skin and hair.
I think Michael Cera could totally nail the role of a serial killer.
Dunno, really feels like typecasting to me!

There was also a crop of pretty boy leading men like Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio who I hated until they got older and actually had to act instead stand there and smile.
One of Brad Pitt’s earliest roles was Paul Maclean in A River Runs Through It. He was partially cast for his looks, I think - part of the story was the protagonist Norman’s view of his brother as a “golden boy” - but it was a dramatic role that he pulled off very well.
We’ve been binge watching the Hawaii 5-0 re-boot and Chi (Capt. Lou Grover) McBride is just fantastic – he’s funny, he can cry on cue, he’s menacing when needed, an all-around good actor. I see he also does voice work for Marvel cartoon shows (as Nick Fury).

He was also the voice of Scrooge McDuck in the recent DuckTales remake. It’s a very different kind of character.
Not to mention voicing Lord Commander in Final Space. Still sci-fi, but even knowing it’s Tennant I struggle to place the voice with the actor.
He also does a fun Charles Darwin in The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists!.
At least “Killmonger” was a nickname.
I’ll allow it…this time.

DiCaprio went full retard right outta the chute in
Moderating: This is Cafe Society, which is a kinder, gentler forum. And “retard” is a slur, especially the way you have used it. Maybe not the worst possible slur, but please try to avoid using it as a slur in Cafe Society.
Thanks
Not objecting to the moderation as such, but just noting for reader context that the phrase “going full retard” is a Tropic Thunder reference.
Thanks, good to know.
Henry Fonda, Ronald Reagan and Chuck-you Norris all made their careers playing good guys with one notable exception each; e.g., Once Upon a Time in the West, The Killers (1964) and The Way of the Dragon, respectively (note: if Mr. Norris played another bad guy, I undoubtedly missed it as I haven’t seen any of his other movies). I don’t think Clint Eastwood ever played an out-and-out bad guy (i.e., one whom the audience was rooting against). He would have been awesome. Even at 91, he could still be an awesome SOB. That aside, he would have been ideally cast as Steve Ditko’s Mr. A back in the day.
Used precisely as used in Tropic Thunder, where there was a long disquisition from one actor who played a mentally challenged character explaining to another character (a white guy wearing blackface) on how it’s actually somewhat dangerous to “go full retard.” And if you’ve seen Gilbert Grape you’ll know why this was a completely apropos comment, using an apropos quote from another movie.
Character actress Margo Martindale?
Now I want to see her do a Ma Barker kind of role.
And Djimon Hounsou was funnier than I expected in What If…?
I only recognize her name from the podcast, I Spy. I didn’t know she was an actor too–and it looks like a
prolific one, too.
Tripler
Ignoranc fought.
Try watching her in her Emmy winning role onJustified. It’s in the second season so even if you insist on watching in order you’ll catch up quickly.
