Maybe because they have accents. Maybe because they have a nasal twang. Maybe just because… I don’t know why, but for some reason, I can’t stand to hear Donald Sutherland talk. There’s something about his voice that makes him seem ridiculous to me in leading man roles. I also don’t like to hear Jimmy Smits. Can’t think of any women off-hand. ---

Vin Diesel. He has a weird affectation I find annoying. I’ve only seen him on the Letterman show, I have no interest in his movies. ---

I’ve always thought the new Star Treks had some terrible-sounding female actors: Marina Sirtis, Gates McFadden, Nana Visitor, and Jennifer Lien may be better actors than they appear, but their voices keep getting in the way. ---

Callie Thorne. First she hadda go and ruin two seasons of _Homicide,_ and now she’s taken up narrating in documentaries and such. Such a dumb, insinuating, muttering tone, takes you totally away from the Civil War or whatever she’s talking about. I also nominate Gilbert Gottfried. One more person mentions him and we can close the thread, right? ---

Cameron Diaz. She sounds like an annoying Valley Girl and her laugh reeeeally bugs me. Her Inside The Actors Studio appearance was painful. Joey Lauren Adams. I can’t stand that scratchy voice thing. Denzel Washington. He has a barely noticable lisp, but not the type that’s caused by the tongue. It sounds like he has giant teeth that he’s trying to talk around. Or like someone with a new set of dentures. ---

Vin Diesel was the first person I thought of when I saw this thread. I’ve seen a few of his movies and his voice wrecks the whole thing for me. It is almost like he is faking it to sound more tough or something. ---
