Okay, so we have threads about actors you love and threads about actors you hate, but what about actors that somehow fall into both categories? I hate Rene Zellwiger (sp) but she keeps making fantastic movies! Whenever I think about her my mind conjures up pictures of Skeletor but I am somehow drawn to the movies she makes. I think maybe she and I just have similar taste in literature/cinema and it isn’t her I want to see but the movie itself. So who do you pay money to see in the theater even though you dispise them? ---

I had the same thing with Steve Martin. I disliked his comedy act, but I found I ended up seeing his movies and liking them. Finally, I began to appreciate his acting. He was terrible at standup, though. ---

Angelina Jolie. I don’t know that I’ve ever actually seen her act, but she sure ends up in movies I want to see. ---

I’m not a big Angelina fan myself but I don’t have any particular problem with her. She just isn’t my favorite. Her dad is one of those uber-creepy people I can’t stand to see in movies though. He freaks me out. ---

Every time I see Leo DiCaprio in a non-acting capacity I just want to smash his smug little face in – which is quite an extreme reaction for someone who ordinarily wouldn’t hurt a fly. But damn, no matter how badly I want to say he’s a terrible actor, I can’t. The kid is damned good. The last few movies I saw him in were all exceptional. ---

The only film I’ve seen him is was _Catch Me if You Can_, and he was surprisingly good :smack: Liv Tyler and Keira Knightley drive me _insane_. ---

Thirded on DiCaprio. Shit. I _want_ to hate him, but he’s damn good, and he’s in damn good movies. Makes me hate him more. I’m not hurting anyone but myself, but I enjoy it. 😃 ---

Tom Cruise and I have remarkably similar tastes in movies, since I end up loving just about everything he’s in. But where as before my opinion of him was more or less “meh,” it’s turned into outright dislike. But I still love his movies. I adore DiCaprio. I don’t think he’s good-looking, but he is easily one of the best actors of my generation. ---

As I watched Titanic on t.v. the other night I was struck by a tangible hatred for [Frances Fisher](http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0004920/). She almost always plays an unsympathetic or downright bitchy part, and damn if she doesn’t always get me to fall for it. I also find her looks quite unappealing yet compelling at the same time. So while these factors add up to a certain dislike for her, I do think she’s a wonderful actress. ---

Which means I can still hate his guts. ---

Second the OP on Renee Zellwegger, whose squinty looks drive me batshit – I’ve seen more of her movies than I care to contemplate, though (most recently _Miss Potter_). ---

Michael Douglas absolutely makes my skin crawl. Always has, long before he married Katherine whatsherface. Most of the time, I’ll make a conscious effort to avoid a movie if I see his name in the credits, but a few years ago I was intrigued by the trailer for Wonder Boys. And ya know what, for a couple of hours there, he made me forget that most of the time, the mere sight of him makes me want to go take a shower! ---
