How terrible for the family. Natasha Richardson last year, Corin Redgrave a month ago and now Lynn. ETA: They don’t say how she died yet but she had breast cancer, she was supposedly in remission but maybe not. ---

I just saw her in a play last year (Nightingale) where she gave a talk after–she was really a wonderful actress and seemed like a great person overall. ---

Now that is bizarre. I hadn’t heard this until I opened Cafe Society, but I was humming the theme to Georgy Girl to myself this morning when I was making breakfast. \ ---

Damn. I saw her onstage in Shaw’s **Saint Joan** on Broadway and loved her (She’d just played Joan of Arc in Jules Feiffer’s **Knock, Knock!** , and I suspect she wanted to do the role straight.) After that I paid more attention to her and her roles. I liked her even when she was shilling for diet food. She will be missed. ---

That’s very sad news. The best Redgrave story: Her assistant had a son Zach and refused to name the father. Lynn’s son Benjamin later married the woman and adopted the child. It came out over one famly Thanksgiving dinner that the child’s biological father was _Lynn’s husband (and Bejamin’s father) John Clark_. And you thought holidays with your family were bad. Lynn & John later had an extremely messy divoce. ---

This really comes as a shock! My SO and I both worked at the Canon Theater in Beverly Hills when Lynn was doing the one-woman show, Shakespeare for My Father. We got to know Lynn and some of her family very well - we even went with Lynn’s daughter to watch the Oscars that year at Rage, a popular video bar in West Hollywood. Lynn was a truly lovely woman, and very unpretentious. As an example, unlike other actors who performed at that theater, she would not enter from the back stage door and sneak in, she would simply walk through the main entrance, through the lobby and down through the theater. Along the way, she would stop and talk to fans and sign autographs. At the close of the show, she gave us a large, personally signed poster - it hangs prominently in our entryway to this day. About two years ago, I sent her an email congratulating her on an award and was surprised when she sent me a personal email reply, filling me in on how she was doing and letting us know her daughter had married and had a child.
