Clowns are evil. Period. Has anyone noticed that the back end of the current VW Beetle looks not unlike a clown (the headrests are the eyes, the tailgate lid is the mouth, and the taillights are the red makeup on its cheeks)? ---

Jack-in-the-boxes always scared me as a kid, anyway. Mine had this cockeyed clown with what was either a hat or a seriously deformed head, who always jumped out at a slightly different angle because it was an old jitb and the spring was kinda warped. It played “Pop Goes the Weasel” when you turned it. I was a dumb kid. I’d sit there cranking it… _All around the mulberry bush the monkey chased the weasel_ And then I’d know the pop was coming so I’d slow way down… _The monkey … thought… 'twas… all… in… fuuuuuunn…_ And then I knew that death was imminent… \*Pop… …goes… …the… …weeeeeeee …sel…\* I knew if I stopped right there I’d be ok, so I’d put it down, and then something would happen and the crank would move and POW! Clown in the face, and I would scream and run away and hide behind the sofa crying. I was a stupid little kid. And now, some clowns. I can’t seem to find a photo of such a clown online, but to this very day, the old clown doll in my grandparents’ spare room gives me the creeps…it’s very much in the style of the first link below, but fleshtoned and more grotesque, with wrinkles, a bulging nose and cheekbones…_shudder_…and to think my uncle played with this infernal monster when he was young…and turned out (semi)normal!
