Howdy all - So it’s been an annoying week for reasons I will not delve into, but today comes a story I can relate. I work at the CBS affiliate in DC and thus the Super Bowl is an event of some importance for our shop. I was invited to go to the annual Super Bowl party at my friend’s house which I have been looking forward to going to, especially since the party has been a tradition since 2000 and I happen to be a die hard Ravens fan. However I held off from saying yes, waiting to see if work was going to need me Sunday. Finally on Tuesday I asked the powers that be “Do you need me to work?” No I am told. “Fine, then I am committing to a party and I will not be available.” Fast forward to Thursday _and the same man approaches me_ and says “Can you work Sunday?” No. Today I see an email to all the photogs “We are desperate for someone to work.” My thoughts - too bad. I will not reward short sighted planners. Two minutes ago my phone starts ringing - same guy. “Can you work Saturday night?” He’s managed to screw around with the schedule and get the Saturday guy to work Sunday. Sure, fine. I can use the money. But goddammit, these short sighted fucks annoy the hell out of me. I was really looking forward to an easy day tomorrow, then a nice party Sunday. Now I’ll still get the party, but I don’t get a chillin Saturday. And those who can’t plan get their asses covered yet again. Fuck. ---

So one Sunday morning, I made her a large breakfast in bed (she’s gonna be there a while as she can’t get up, right?), tied her limbs to the bed, put the gag in her mouth, (adjusted just so she could breathe but not scream too loudly). Then went downstairs to the kitchen, opened the fridge & took out two beers &… sat on the sofa & watched _both_ football games without a single interruption! It was really nice! 😃 Betcha didn’t see that ending comin’? ---

awww **Swampy** it would have to be something more severe than that for me to make Sah-kid stand in line at wallyworld. Although the whole point of him getting his license is so he can go and I can stay home. 😃 We’ll go to PetsMart, and then the Dollar General and then BoxnSave. Get all of the shopping out of the way. He gets to carry it all in, and put it away. He does his own laundry, vacuums, dusts, takes out the trash, cooks (a little) and even cleans the bathroom One day he’s going to make some woman a good wife. **Spidey** Are you saying the only good woman is a mute woman? Just remember losing my voice comes with having a very sore throat - take that as you will. 😉 ---

Our shop made some decisions regarding the Super Bowl coverage that I and many others do not agree with, but I will go no further in my opining publicly. With regards to good signs in an office the operations manager at my former station WJZ had a sign behind his desk that said “I can only make one person happy a day. Today is not your day. Tomorrow isn’t looking good either.” This is the same guy who saw me walk by his office one day, worn out & tired (I was swinging 2 jobs to make ends meet) and asked how I was doing. I told him I was fried, etc. He looked at his schedule and said ‘skip tomorrow’. I told him I didn’t want to burn the day off and he replied ‘no worry, I have a few stash days I’m allowed to give. You get one.’ Serious man crush that I hold to this day. ---
