# Adhesive advice

Ok, so I keep having this problem with cds I buy. I buy the cd, I leave it in the car for a while, and then I try to take the label off. When I do this, it always leaves a nice adhesive film on there. I have tried scratching this layer off, I have soaked the case in the sink overnight, and I’ve even tried pulling the layer off with other adhesive stuff (i.e. tape).
If anyone knows a good was of getting that crap off, I would really appreciate the knowledge.

The liquid lighter fluid (naptha) used in wick-type lighters does a wonderful job, and is safe on nearly all plastics. It stinks a bit, but does the job nicely, and once it all evaporates, the smell is gone

WD 40 will do the trick. There is a product called “goo gone” specially designed for this but I think I paid about 3 dollars for a little bottle of it.

Goo Gone is exactly what you need. I buy it in the big bottle since I use it at work. The smaller bottle will last for ages, for most people. There’s other stuff out there that might seem to be the same, but it’s not so beware.

Also, Goo-Gone doesn’t smell so awful. It’s sort of citrus-y.

Any of the various [citrus cleaners](http://www.google.com/search?as_q=&num=10&hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&btnG=Google+Search&as_epq=citrus+cleaner&as_oq=&as_eq=&lr=&as_ft=i&as_filetype=&as_qdr=all&as_occt=any&as_dt=i&as_sitesearch=&safe=off) should do the job quickly.

Why would you want to take the labels off your CDs? How will you know the artist from any of the others?

If you know any florists, they may use a spray on leafshine called Pokon. Pokon will remove anything sticky from any surface.
Better living through petrochemical byproducts.
