The Bruins/Patriots confusion reminds me of one of my own stupidities. For years I thought the Washington Redskins were based in Washington state. What city? Who knows. But in the state of Washington. Made sense to me; ‘redskins’ denotes Indians, Indians are out west, Washington is out west … I still have to remind myself if the team is somehow brought to my attention that they’re playing in DC.

HAHA, \*\*Bandanaman, \*\* too hilarious. I Thought I was the only WKRP fan in existence.

Okay, I admit it. When I was young, my father told me he scheduled the moon landing on TV just for my birthday.

I believed him.

Hell, that sounds like something the Dad from “Calvin and Hobbes” would say.

Okay, I’ll admit it: I was 18 before I realized that in _The Wizard of Oz_ the characters all had the thing they wanted the most all along–the Scarecrow came up with all the ideas (thus, he had a brain), the Tinman was soft-hearted, and the Cowardly Lion really did defend them all, in a pinch, and with his eyes closed. This had gone over my head the 7 or 8 times I saw it as a kid. And yes, I figured it out for myself, it wasn’t the _America_ song that did it.

I, also, used to mispronounce “misled” pretty egregiously, until I was in college. For the longest time, I thought it was “mizzled.” I specifically remember reading it in _The Stand_, and the funny thing is, I still knew what it meant just fine.

In the U2 song “Where the Streets Have No Name,” I always heard one lyric as “when the toaster disappeared…” When I was using the song for a retrospective video reel, I remarked to a friend on how strange the lyric was. I got a looong stare as a response, and she finally (having determined I wasn’t kidding) said, “Dude. It’s _dust cloud_. ‘When the dust cloud disappears…’” I still haven’t lived that down.

My wife and I one had sex while watching (well, sort of watching) a Japanese _hentai_ anime. We both liked it quite a bit.

I had the exact same image in my head and thought all there was was that pole. I pictured the same one at the South Pole only it was upside down.

Until recently I was another one who didn’t realize women peed/put tampons in two different holes. I’ve been removing them before going to the bathroom for as long as I can remember.

I still have to sing the ABC song, “30 days have September”, and didn’t know how to use the washing machine until I was in college.

Hmmm. Well, I’ve been wondering what I could admit to, so I guess I could to _still_ not being sure whether **Bandanaman** was serious or I’ve been whooshed. While I’m at it, I should also admit that Les Nessman’s broadcast from the supermarket parking lot was the first thing that popped into my head, when I saw his post. And, I guarantee there are people out there who are convinced turkeys can’t fly, just because of that episode.

Oh, and the North “barber” Pole thing, as well, when I was a kid. As I recall, I was rather indignant about there not really being such a thing, when I found out. _“Well, there **should** be, don’t you think?”_

I was under the impression that “domestic” turkeys can’t fly. You know the big white ones you see on farms. The colorful wild ones indeed fly quite well, although I’ve never seen them attain much hight (higher than a house).

There seems to be an… “urban legend”, for want of a better term… here in the States that rivers flow south, and that rivers that flow north are very, very rare. A lot of people believe this, cause it gets passed down through our grandparents - and our grandparents wouldn’t lie, would they?

I also get the right/left mixed up quite often, but if I have to know I just remember that “I write with my right hand.” Works for me.

When I was little, I thought my uncle had a wonderful and mysterious first name (“Owl”, as in “Uncle Owl”) but a puzzling second name (my grandmother sometimes called him “Bunion.”)

It was only in high school that I realized his first two names were “Al” and “Bunyan.”

I felt pretty silly, 'cuz I’d actually been calling him “Uncle Owl” for years.

Whenever I’m turning a screw, I have to think “Clockwise to tighten, counterclockwise to loosen,” accompanied by using an air screwdriver just to get the point into my head.

Which reminds me - which one’s port, and which one’s starboard again? I can never remember. Even if you tell me, I’ll forget again almost instantly.

Oh, and although I can tie a necktie reliably, if I tried to explain it, or even think about it, as I’m doing it, I’d probably end up hanging myself or something. I’ve honestly had days where I had to put the tie down for a while, stop thinking about it, then come back and get it tied on before my brain started trying to remember how it went again.
