You beat me to it. “Stabby” falls in the same category of cutesy things I’ve only ever seen/heard on the Internet, along with “sammich” and “om nom nom”.

Ssshhhh…

As a fellow elder I must remind you to not tell the younglings of our wise elderly ways…

It sure doesn’t sound cutesy [when Fat Tony says it](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dnyD9Infdl4).

I heartily agree about those two – make me want to vomit copiously. Had wondered whether my feeling thus, was perhaps due to being a Brit and not “getting” American whimsy…

I use stabbity as well.

I wouldn’t use it at work (for several reasons, including my job and the environment in which I work) - it would be inappropriate. But I do use it among my friends, and they’re likely to as well.

We’ve also all said to someone else in the group “do I need to cut a bitch?” - when someone has done something to seriously upset a friend in the group. We all know we’re not going to - we’re all 35-40 year old professionals and the idea of any of us actually doing so is almost guaranteed to set us off laughing. But again, we say it among friends, not to people who wouldn’t get that we’re really not going to do this, and wouldn’t even consider it seriously.

I use stabby all the time, both at work and with friends. If people choose to take it the wrong way, that’s their problem. At least they’ll give me a wide berth which is probably what I intended in the first place!
Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.
“At times” has been rendered “most of the time” for me, recently. I may, indeed, have something wrong with me.

Since most opined that it’s normal (like neurosis) I’d like to know when such thoughts come to a person? When someone is feeling good and happy, it’s not likely he wants to hurt someone. So is it always felt during bad moods?

I’d be worried less about the violence aspect and more simply that people tend to not be able to control their emotions. They feel the need to have to ‘express’ themselves, and of course this is more prevalent with a new narcissistic generation of Facebookers who think the world is literally their oyster (or toilet).

People who lack discipline get no respect from me. If you don’t mean something, don’t say it and later expect forgiveness because you were just ‘having a moment.’

So not, don’t admit your feeling “stabby” or anything else for that matter.

> Well, first, I recognize it as a _hyperbolic_ expression of frustration. I seriously doubt that someone who actually felt murderously angry would resort to describing it with cutesy colloquialisms.

Sometimes I’ve had a coworker say similar things, as a combination of a general apology and a request to smack them as needed. So long as it was genuine, apologies accepted. Whether it was appropriate or not would vary a lot by location, corporate culture, specific tasks being performed, etc; you don’t blurt out “I’m so stabby today” in the middle of presenting the new year-long IT proyect.

I wonder how long until “I’m feeling rapey” comes into parlance. I mean, as terrible as rape is, it’s still not as bad as stabbing someone, so I think feeling rapey would be a more mild form of feeling stabby and needing to get your frustration out there.
