I had a pdf file sent to me via e-mail. When I tried to open it to print it out (a manual for a space heater; referring to another GQ thread), I got a “Fatal Error” notice on the screen, reading, “Acrobat failed to load its Core DLL.” Nothing else in the box but an “OK” button, which I had no choice but to push. How do I get the file printed out?

if you just want to read the manual, [try one of these](https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=online+pdf+viewer). If the first one you pick doesn’t work, try another one.

If you successfully read the manual that way, then [try reinstalling Adobe Acrobat Reader.](https://get.adobe.com/reader/otherversions/) Alternatively, install [foxit reader](https://www.foxitsoftware.com/downloads/) and try that.

Was the file solicited or unsolicited? If unsolicited, and you can open other PDFs on your computer without a problem, delete it. Could be virus.exe.

If solicited, download another PDF program. I like Foxit reader, and it’s free.

We had a manual for a Lasko space heater Model 8542 e-mailed to us by a repair busi jess that loaned us two space heaters pending repair of our built-in. The Adobe in my computer, as I noted, would not open it.

Do you perhaps mean model 5842? If so, the manual is available [here](http://www.laskoproducts.com/wp-content/uploads/5842CyclonicCeramicHeater.pdf), at the manufacturer’s website. (PDF warning, although that should be obvious.)

Oops–you’re right, Dewey. 5842. Thanks for the help. :):o

THANKS! That did it!! 🙂
Foxit Reader opened my e-mail file!
I re-installed Adobe Acrobat Reader and tried again, to no avail. I got the same damn excuse.
Foxit Reader gave me no excuses. I was able to print out the instructions. Thanks very much! 🙂

I wouldn’t bother with the newer Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, I’d stick with the tried & true [**Adobe Reader 11.0**](https://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/thankyou.jsp?fileID=5519&ftpID=5507)

DC (Document Cloud) has a lot of extras that are just annoying, not to mention nag screens to buy the full version…

You think THAT software shows nag screens…
I get pop-ups nagging me to install Windows 10 or 11. Constantly.
