I’m adopted. I’m a 1961 model, adopted at 4 days old. I know nothing about my genetic past, and don’t really want to.

I’m a mother through adoption. Brought her home at 18 months from a “social welfare institution” in China back in 2005. She is 13 now which is turning out to be a real PITA age to deal with - I’m sure for both us, but I’m the one wondering “where did that sweet girl go - you know, the one who used to bathe regularly and have manners?”. This too shall pass…

After several failed attempts at in vitro fertilization, my wife and I pursued adoption. After settling with an agency that works with orphanages in Russia, I would joke that we were going to Siberia to find some kids. Sure enough, we got referrals for a boy and a girl from orphanages in Krasnoyarsk and Achinks, in Siberia. We’ve been a family for 12 years.

**moi** and I raised her adopted brother, who was the son of her stepdads nephew. All clear so far?

**moi’s** mom adopted M after M’s parents gave up their rights, _and_ after she divorced stepdad. She passed away when M was 10 and he passed to us. He’s a junior in college now.

Familys what you make it.

My wife and I adopted our younger daughter almost two years ago (our older daughter is biologically ours). We had arranged the adoption through an agency several months in advance and my wife was able to make it to the hospital shortly after the birth (I was planning to come a couple days later) but the birth mom backed out at the last minute and my wife came home empty handed.

A couple weeks later we got a call that the birth mom had changed her mind again and so we went back and picked up our darling daughter for reals this time.
