Trans-fats are _banned_?

Everywhere?

I read a story about (I think) New York (?) banning them, but not a total US-wide ban? Not this fast?

Or maybe I missed it.

Wouldn’t be surprised.
Just in NYC restaurants, currently.

Humph. So they don’t have to list how many grams of unsaturated fats are there? We’re supposed to know that there are only three kinds of fat?
Having never seen an advent calendar that had anything to do with any sort of food or with tools I just wanted to say that absolutely nothing in this thread makes any sense at all to me.
It’s just an advent calendar that has a little door for each day Dec 1-Dec 25, and each door has a little piece of chocolate behind it, that you get to eat as you open each day.

I think you guys are missing the point. The label is an International Requirement to prove that there is no nutritious content to be found in the contents of an advent calendar. It’s illegal to make something fun into something healthy.

Then why don’t they put these on beer, huh?

Oh, it’s much better than that.

At the top of the fat hierarchy are the saturated and unsaturated fats. Saturated fats have all single bonds in their fatty acid chains. Unsaturated fats have one (mono-unsaturated) or more (poly-unsaturated) double bonds in the carbon chain. Trans fats are unsaturated (mono or poly) but not all unsaturated fats are trans fats.

Saturated fats are generally believed to contribute to “bad cholesterol” and harden your arteries, while unsaturated fats are supposedly not as bad for you (except for those trans fats).

And then there are the omega fatty acids…

Because the government believes alcohol should be regulated in the same manner as tobacco and firearms. duh!

On it!

You can open the ‘doors’ and I’ll demonstrate how to use the ‘candy’.
