I’m desperately looking for a reliable tv and/or radio advertisement archive. I’m going to be using the material for an academic presentation so youtube and the like aren’t very useful due to their low resolution and proprietary formats. Are there archives out there that have historic or current commercials for download? I’m willing to pay for membership if need be, but free is even better. If there aren’t reliable web-based resources out there, where can I find these sorts of videos in a big city? The media-library I visited was not very useful.

thanks in advance.

p.s. mods: dunno if this is an IMHO or not, please feel free to move at your discretion (not that you need my permision anyways 🙂

The moving images library at [archive.org](http://archive.org) is really good

Old radio ads are a little more scarce, but [this page](http://www.oldtimeradiofans.com/old_radio_commercials/) has a bunch. [These guys](http://www.earthstation1.com/Merchant/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=E&Category_Code=TC) apparently sell CDs and DVDs that might be of use.

I work for one of the biggest archives ([Xtreme Information](http://www.ads.xtremeinformation.com/), 3.5 million ads from across the world (including China! 😉 )). It’s a pay service but if you drop me an email with what you’re after I might be able to organise a few freebies.
