I use my tiny tripod in lots of conditions, and basically keep it from toppling (when outdoors) by holding it with my elbow firmly anchored. If I haven’t anywhere to anchor an elbow I’ll set the timer for 5 seconds and keep my hands close to the tripod and catch it if it starts to move.
Having a tiny tripod is pretty much the best accessory I have and it’s made some impossible pics (low light usually, but also you can plant it where there’s no room to use the viewfinder) possible.
