# Afghanistan agrees

Could Afghanistan agree to our requests in order to rid their military of the militant Muslim faction? The faction will surely object and the Afghani government might expect us to help shoot them.

Yeah, except the militant muslim faction IS the “government” of Afghanistan. I am sure there are many people in Afghanistan who would like to see that faction be destroyed, but we cannot expect the Taliban to destroy itself to please us.

Lemur is right, and the statements thus far from the Taliban have basically been defiant sabre-rattling.

Same answer. Basically the militant Islamic faction is the government. Pakistan has however, acquiesced in the US’s “request“ (read, ultimatum) that they sever their ties with Afghanistan and allow US aircraft to over fly the country in route to Afghanistan. We will see what happens when the balloon goes up.
