AFI Top 100 Film Songs

Listen,
do you want to know a secret?
Do you promise not to tell?

Were are standing by a wishing well.

John and Paul put that first part of the song in as tribute to SWat7D.

That was one of the few songs on the program with which I am unfamiliar. However, I was surprised that as I was watching this show with Mr. Del, who is a big film fan but not a particular fan of musicals, this was the one song that made him completely emotional. “I love this song! I’m so glad they included this song! This has always been one of my favorite songs!” This got a big WTF? from me, but perhaps it does appeal to a certain kind of movie fan. Who knows? But there was at least one person watching who was thrilled with it.

If it’s any consolation to those of you who were wishing to see instrumental themes, it’s my guess that they are waiting to milk this idea even more by eventually doing a “Top 100 Themes” list.

We were however rather proud of ourselves, because one of our hobbies is to each make a guess of one thing for these lists, and the person whose guess comes in the highest wins. We got #1 and #2 for this list (I was #1, yay!).

You know, I’d like to say that I love the Sound of Music. I don’t really want to, but I do anyway. I was happy to hear the songs from that movie. Julie Andrews just about walks on water as far as I am concerned. That said, isn’t “Chim Chim Cheree” the best song from Mary Poppins? I agree with the person who said that it seemed like several times they got the right film, but the wrong song.
