[A study](http://www.sci-news.com/genetics/enigmatic-archaic-human-relative-interbred-ancestors-modern-africans-05067.html) on a gene involved in the production of saliva has found a version on sub-Saharan Africa so different from that of other modern human, Denisovian, and Neanderthal variants that it suggests the existence of yet another recent lost human sub-species.
