After 27 years, there's a new record in the mile

Same problem they had when they voided Lance Armstrong’s Tour de France wins.

There were so many of the top finishers from those years that already had been banned that no official winners were named. There’s just blank spots in the list.

Some blank spots. I really don’t want to defend Lance Armstrong, he was the worst cheater of his ilk and also toxic against his critics, but it’s really a joke that he got his titles revoked, while Bjarne Riis and Jan Ullrich still can call themselves TdF winners.

I’m pretty sure high school runs 1600 and 3200 because not every school has gotten around to switching from a mile track, and they don’t want athletes having to train for two distances

There’s absolutely no difference in training for the mile/2 mile and the 1500/3000.
It’s probably to maintain continuity in comparing times to decades past.
