# After Hours Trading

If you watch _Nightly Business Report_, they will occasionally mention how a stock did in “after hours trading”. What exactly is this? I’ve always assumed it was individuals trading stocks among themselves without benefit of the market. Is that it? How does it get reported to the media and brokerages?
