Health hounds-curious as to how you feel after a typical workout. I’ve heard some complain that they feel like utter crud. Me (usually on the stationary bike for 30-60 min.), I typically feel great-just full of energy. I did a 2 hour bike workout 2 weeks ago-with much of it going up simulated hills-and felt like I could have gone another hour.

Doing Hatha/Vinyasa yoga or karate, after the workout it sucks that I live on a 3rd floor walkup. All I want to do is go home and park it in front of the computer until bedtime. I usually don’t feel good until midmorning the next day.

</div>

I usually feel pretty good, smug with the knowledge that I did something great for myself, unless I overdo it in which case I feel like crap.

</div>

I said pretty good. I’m usually a bit tired, and the odds of being nauseous for a while are about 35%, but I don’t need a nap or anything to recover.

</div>

Smugness is the predominant feeling I’d say.

I ran three miles this am and it was #@!? cold with a blistering headwind. Mind you, coupla thousand people are running the NYC Marathon today in the same weather so you’d think I have nothing to be smug about finishing 5K in a rollicking 39 minutes. But smug I am and smug I shall remain.

Physically I was ready for a rest and a cup of coffee, but not crapped out/uncomfortably drained.

</div>

If it’s a run, I feel alright when I’m done, maybe even a bit more energetic. If it’s lifting, I feel about the same, but usually sleep hard later.

I usually feel mentally very good, psyched up and feeling good about myself. Physically I’m wiped out. So, I wasn’t sure which option to pick.

I’m not a morning persons. If I workout in the morning I tend to drag all day. Now that I am in my 40s if I run more than about 2 -2.5 miles my legs/hips/knees are sore later.

Now that I don’t have to do either of those involuntarily anymore I generally feel good. 😛

Aerobics makes me tired (although I recover quickly). Weight work generally makes me feel nice and powerful. Pilates makes me feel like I just had a massage. Dancing makes me happy but I’ve been known to overdo it, to the point that I could barely get up the three steps to the dressing room.

Tired, with minor pains and general discomfort. Emotionally, it’s “thank goodness that’s over”.

I feel like crap, and am happy it’s over. The next morning I dread going. I go, feel like crap, and am glad it is over.

Repeat forever.

Sweaty, pleased with myself, and usually hungry.

Mentally I feel great, physically I feel absolutely spent and just want to collapse on the sofa. A typical work out for me is a 100km training bike ride or a 30 - 50km race. Even though the training ride isn’t aiming at achieving exhaustion, it involves around 4 hours spent in the sun and is fatiguing. Races are hard or you’re not doing it right (or you’re treating it as training, which is fine.)

</div>

I picked the “I feet great” choice, but I don’t work out to the point of trashing myself. Just enough for strength gain & heart & lungs pumping good. Then it’s time for a good-sized healthful meal.

This.
Mentally great but physically whipped (but not sore/achy)

Generally very minor aches and pains and lower energy levels for an hour or so, then I recover and am back to normal so I put “about the same.”

Tired, hungry, and worried that the laundry won’t get done because I wasted too much time at the gym.

Then we go grab some bar food, a glass of wine, a nap, and I say fuck the laundry.

I’m probably doing something wrong.

Depends on the day- some days I have a great workout. Other days, I have a crappy workout (bad run, weight lifting didn’t go as planned) and I feel BLAH! I still keep at it though.

Yeah, you should do your laundry.
