There’s some SUV ad that I’ve been seeing lately where the spokesman has some “not an actor” in a driveway admiring the car, only to reveal that the person’s family is hiding in the car. It was filmed on a warm looking sunny day. How long were those family members made to sit in the hot car? One of the “regular people” says something like “this (Chevy Traverse) is better looking that 99 percent of the SUVs I’ve seen”. OK, first, almost all SUVS look pretty much like this one - two-box lumps. And the ones that don’t - mostly from Mazda, Lexus, Infiniti, Porsche and Mercedes - look better. Who are you trying to kid? And why is it so interesting that your family is in the vehicle. All of these Chevy “regular people” commercials are stupid. ---

There’s some commercial on HGTV for a closet company that shows a woman getting dressed in a huge closet with a center island, jewelry in drawers, and backlit shoe shelves. She’s monologuing about getting ready for a job interview which she’s sure to nail although she hasn’t had a job in ten years while she was raising her three kids. Bitch, you don’t have to work! :dubious: ---

The one with the idiot woman who picked up an “It’s a GIRL” cake for a shower, only to be informed “You know she’s having a boy, right?” so she zips back to the bakery in her Buick and saves the day. Because the only way to get another cake is if you have a Buick. That and what kind of idiot buys such a specific cake without knowing for certain? ---

The promo for Outrageous Acts of Science season premier has been running at least 3 times per show since the beginning of February. Meaning, if you watch any show on The Science Channel you’ll hear The Backstreet Boys singing I Want It That Way at least 3 times in a half hour. if the show you are watching is an hour long, you’ll probably hear it 7 or 8 times. I’d hoped that once the premier played I’d never have to hear that fucking song ever, ever again. But no. I think they played the promo _durning_ the premier. No, Science Channel, I do not want it that way. I never, ever want it that way ever again. ---

I find [this one](https://www.ispot.tv/ad/wiRR/volkswagen-presidents-day-more-room-2018-volkswagen-tiguan) _really_ annoying. It’s for a Volkswagen vehicle. The camera moves in a circle around a family in the car, each one asking, “Do you need more room?”. Annoying and stupid. ---

The ones that really look different are the [Scion xB](https://www.cars.com/research/scion-xb-2006/), and [this one](https://www.carscoops.com/2016/02/its-official-scion-brand-is-dead/#lg=1&slide=4); the [Honda Element](https://www.autolist.com/honda-element#make=Honda&model=Element&buyer_intelligence=true&sort_new_cars_last=true&page=1&radius=any&location=San+Marcos%2C+TX&latitude=29.8833&longitude=-97.9414); there’s another I can’t think of at the moment that is a box. Most SUV’s look alike otherwise. Sure there are fine differences if you study them, but they’re all basically the same shape. As for the family hiding in the car, they seem to have flown people from a long way away, not just got their parents that they live with and the sister across the street. So it’s people who shouldn’t be there hiding in the car. I kinda hate the one where they’re holding a meeting on an Interstate that they’ve closed down one side to put up a table and chairs. That’s a _great_ place to hold a meeting. :rolleyes: ---

In the 3-row large segment, most look very much alike. And if you really are concentrating, I’d put the Traverse well down the list. I enjoy analyzing it, in an “Ender Wiggins watching the bugger battle video” fashion, to see if I can tell by the shadow lengths how long it took to film, and in what order. You can see it wasn’t filmed in the final edited order. ---

I was just thinking of an older commercial, it showed a neighborhood of indistinguishable gray SUVs, then their SUV that was a different color, and said something about standing out from the crowd. They describe theirs as unique looking or distinctive styling or something. No. In the 3 row category, you are correct. The Tahoe/Suburban type and 4runner are more trucklike, and the Ford Flex is more boxy, but the rest are similar. ---
