And what’s with all the drug commercials using catchy jingles all of a sudden? There’s one running right now for Rubelsis (sp?), which is apparently about how the drug is meant to lower one’s A1C. The pacing of the jingle, however, makes it sound like people are speaking out against the drug. “🎶get A1C, 🎶 DOWN WITH RUBELSIS!!!” ---

Prescription drug advertisement to the general public is perhaps the strongest evidence for my impression that the more relentlessly something is advertised, the more likely it is to be grossly overpriced (which makes sense given that the money for the ads has to come from somewhere). ---

Some travel thing has a commercial where people (presumably American) go to the Coliseum and proceed to Act Ass. Running around, climbing on shit and tearing around on a scooter. It’s Fucking Embarrassing. ---

I see it more as the “Ugly American” stereotype. Same travel site has another commercial from Troll Town somewhere in Norway (?), which is nightmare inducing. Those giant statues are hideous! ---

There’s a game called lily’s Garden that evolved a whack-a-doodle murder mystery vibe that became really popular where she takes over grandma’s old mansion (look up "matpat lillys garden " on youtube he’s been playing it for years lol)… thats the game started that trend and everyone uses it even when it’s not even in the game whats even worse now is the "sugar daddy " model/talent games that have ads where you watch what ever they’re being “trained” for and the demo part of the ad says “Did I do good or bad Daddy” or "was I a good girl " while you’re unzipping her top up or down depending… what’s even funnier is the Google views trashing the game because that part isn’t or hasn’t ever been in the game ever ---

I think it was Fred Meyer whose commercials said their produce is ‘fresher than fresh’. Every time, I was like ‘So… Not ripe yet?’ ---

Drug companies have whole departments of people who come up with these names. Among other things, they have to make sure, for instance, that a potential drug name is not an obscene word in another language. However, nowadays, you’re right - lots of letters that score higher in Scrabble games, that’s for sure. ---

Another one that makes me hit the fast forward button on my DVR is for some sort of accounting program whose name is something like Alava which shows people using it and are so impressed with how easy it makes their job that they go “aaah”. Except that they don’t stop saying it through the rest of the commercial. The “aaah” turns into a continuous droning sound that apparently is now the only sound they can make; when other employees come up to them to ask for a report or something they just hand it to them without breaking their “sound of contentment” (which is what I presume it’s supposed to convey). ---
