I like Tony Hale. He was great in _Arrested Development_ and _Veep_, and has done lots of other stuff. But yeah, those commercials are… not good. Likewise, the commercials with Dan Levy and Heidi Gardner - two very funny people - that are aggressively _un_funny. ---

How about the pervasively upbeat Skyrizi ads? You know, the drug that treats two seemingly unrelated maladies - a skin condition and a GI problem, each with their own ad and the same happy song the kids are singing. The one I keep seeing is for Crohn’s disease and shows a young woman on a sail boat enjoying a sandwich, and a dude taking his kid to an apple farm. The big fella looks like he can destroy any bathroom with that Crohn’s. Anyway, these drug ads with the upbeat, happy songs for treating what are probably nasty and uncomfortable conditions strike me as wierd when the voice-over starts mentioning potential side effects, like a “life-threatening infection of the perineum” and then the imagery switches back to shiny-happy people. ---

I keep thinking I could become a cinematographer just by specializing in “Happy Families On Their Meds”. It wouldn’t take Haskell Wexler levels of skill, and these days, I’d never run out of work. . I was out on a walk, and pause to watch a couple jumping up to hang handmade snowflake ornaments on a tree in their front yard. They were laughing and jumping and I said “You two could be an anti-depressant ad!” Luckily, they laughed along with me… ---

Both conditions are immune system issues. Skyrizi targets the immune system to tone it down. Thus the ability to affect two different diseases. And the side effects, which are things the immune system prevents. ---

Lume commercials remind me of my freshman college roommate who thought that Lysol and deodorant were adequate substitutes for laundry and bathing. ---

A person who is on a medication that causes involuntary movements severe enough to warrant the use of this drug is probably not going to be working as a schoolteacher. They will have mental health issues severe enough, they will likely be living in some kind of care facility. ---

Definitely not looking that happy at it.^^ Oh, and _Lumēs_ new words: “Pits and Package” I can do with out that. I’m with @FairlyChatMom, I don’t think I’ve actively smelt a persons pits or package or any part of them out in the wild. I kinda try to avoid putting my nose near these areas on strangers. ---

Yep, and if for whatever reason I _can_ smell any unpleasant part of a person just by standing or walking nearby, no deodorant product is going to help them. (I had a summer school class where it was pretty obvious that some of the students only bathed once per week…) ---

That’s _because_ they use allover deodorant; duh! Mostly kidding. Far be it for me to defend such tasteless ads; they really are tacky and annoying. However, the products do they’re supposed to and are no different than putting deodorant under your arms. Not sure why people keep saying it’s useless and can’t imagine anyone using it. _I can’t imagine_ why some find that so perplexing. I think these commercials are doing the opposite of what they’re meant to and people are dismissing the product because they’re (the ads) so obnoxious. ---

All these comments about Lume are making me wonder if they want us to think this is a new concept? Wasn’t there a “Feminine Deodorant Spray” decades ago? It was marketed as FDS, I guess so they wouldn’t have to directly mention that it was designed for lady bits, for the “not so fresh feeling.” But I don’t remember their ads being as annoying as the Lume commercials. ---
