I keep seeing one for Sling TV where the parents are explaining to the kids how great it is. The mother says “your father can watch his sports programs and I can watch my reality shows”. It could be intended as a joke I guess but it comes off like they’re mocking their customers. I say bring back the advertising company that came up with the Nick Offerman / Megan Mullally ads. ---

Remember, they started out with couples hearing “swingers” instead of “slinger”, with hilarity (or penis) ensuing. So the innuendo here is that couple are definitely not getting along. Affairs, incompatibilty, whatever, the wife is NOT talking about TV. “you have no idea!” ---

Another prescription drug commercial, this one is for psoriasis, I think, Called Sudoku. Or not. Sounds like Sudoku. It’s the tag line. OK, not really the tag line but they do hit the line hard in the commercial. “You don’t have to hide your skin, just your background”. It’s especially jarring when I first heard it because I wasn’t watching TV, my husband was and that line jerked me out of my internetting. And they did that shit on purpose. You can tell by how hard they hit that line in the ad. I am not a person who takes offense easily-- or at all-- but it seemed like they were _trying_ to get people’s back up. ---

I think they mean the background\* of your selfie picture. Not your life background. If that’s what you mean. - You can blur backgrounds on simple android phones ---

Again, yes. She is taking a selfie. Still jarring. And there is no reason for them to emphasize this line so hard if it wasn’t on purpose. For attention. Like I said, I am NOT the only one who noticed. Exactly what a commercial is looking for. ---

I agree, but I don’t mind so much if they’re cartoon caricatures of insects. Raid bug spray used to do cartoon ads featuring squadrons of mosquitos attacking people, armies of ants advancing on a picnic, and so on. Of course, they were frightened away by the mere appearance of Raid. Good commercials, as long as the insects were nothing more than cartoon caricatures.
