Commercial for Sheba, a high-end brand of cat food, apparently. A woman is feeding her cat a container of the cat food from her couch when off-camera a girl yells “mom, I fell down!”. “Get a bandage from the cabinet”, the mom says. “I’m bleeding!”. “Get two bandages” the mom disinterestedly replies. So many things wrong here. First, the obvious: it appears the takeaway slogan here is “Sheba: the cat food for owners who love their cats more than their children”. Haha! Nice. But also, who feeds their cat on a couch? Treats maybe, but not wet cat food. And the whole “get a bandage, get two bandages” thing. Is she not already assuming her daughter is bleeding by telling her to get a bandage? So why, when the daughter confirms she is bleeding, are two bandages then the answer? It’s just a weird, unfunny and lazily written commercial. It makes the Liberty commercials look like Shakespearean comedy by comparison. ---

It’s especially infuriating because I bitched about this very same commercial it feels like _years_ ago. And then it was gone, thank goodness. But now it’s back and still has infuriating as ever. Go check on your child you lazy motherfucker!!! ETA: Quick search in this topic says 2021. Make a new stupid commercial, why don’tcha? ---

She’s not even feeding the cat when the child falls. She’s just sitting on her lazy butt reading a magazine! The cat food doesn’t come in until the end. ---

I am the biggest cat lover you’ll ever met, and I loathe this commercial. It feeds the outrage of cat-haters (though it’s the uncaring mother who should get the brunt of it). It’s just stupid and ugly. ---

The BMW car commercial that is encouraging people to call off work or other obligations is annoying the shit out of me. The first lady apparently doesn’t even bother to call the person she is supposed to be meeting and then laughs as she lies to her about why she isn’t at the meet. The other two excuses are no better. I just want to say, I have worked at a few car dealerships and they don’t think it’s funny when your employees call off. Someone else (me usually!) 🫩 still has to get the work done. Also, there are a couple of commercials with whispering. I can’t tell you who they are for because I can’t get to the remote quick enough as soon as I hear the first word. It creeps me out so much. And I see that I’m not the first person to bring this one up. Glad I’m not the only one. ---

The MSNBC Sirius feed is particularly bad for constantly repeated annoying commercials. The most irritating one lately is the Ethos insurance one that starts with a woman describing her nightmare about Hubby crashing the car and leaving her destitute; Hubby responds with a narmily sympathetic “That’s awful” which keeps growing an increasing undertone of “…will you shut the fuck up about it already?” with each repetition of the ad (OK, that’s probably just me projecting my reaction), all delivered in a way that makes telemundo melodrama sound like Shakespeare. ---

I don’t know how many times I’ve heard those while I’m driving and freaked out for a second. Just the other day a commercial with a siren came on my car radio, and I started to pull over to the side of the road to let the non-existent rescue vehicle pass. ---
